Dear Members and Friends of St. Jude Parish:

During the last year and a half, our strategic planning committee has been evaluating the current and future growth in North Londonderry with a view of determining our ability to meet the long-term needs of our worshipping family. As one of its goals, the committee has attempted to insure the continuation of our on-going spiritual needs and adult and youth religious education and formation.

After much study, work, meetings with Diocesan representatives and visitations to several newly constructed churches, the committee has determined that in order to respond to future growth, St. Jude Parish will have to plan for a new church with appropriate classrooms and meeting space. As a first step, St. Jude has obtained an option to purchase nearly 25 acres of land immediately behind the current church structure.

In order to determine the ability and desire of our parish family to undertake the future construction of a new facility, we have retained the firm of Kirby-Smith of Pennsylvania to conduct a Feasibility Study, which will include three specific activities. The first will be a series of personal interviews of a cross sampling of our members who will receive a telephone call to set up an interview appointment with a Kirby-Smith consultant. If you are not selected and wish to speak directly to a consultant concerning the Feasibility Study, please call the parish office. The second activity is a survey, which will be mailed to all households with registered members of St. Jude Parish the week of January 29, 2003. The third is a series of parish “Town Meetings” to be held Sunday March 2nd at 3:00 PM and Thursday March 6th at 7:00 PM to which everyone is invited in order that we may gather additional information and respond to your questions and concerns. It is important to us that you have an opportunity be heard.

We are embarking on a new and exciting journey for our parish family.  As such, it is important that everyone return the survey questionnaire. Your responses are important to the committee members and me and will help determine the future of St. Jude Parish. As always, you and your family remain in my daily prayers.

In Jesus and Mary,
